I'm in a bit of a mood this week. I think I suffer from exhaustion from refusing to accept that my health is not even close to being fully restored. You know how you have health bars on video games? And, when it's low, your character is all huffy and puffy...well, that's me. Where are the yellow health bars? Why can't life be more like a video game? Then, maybe instead of protesting the SPP, we could just fireball Harper and friends. Also, what is all this talk in the media that protesters of the SPP are conspiracy theorists? Isn't more than a century of American conquer of the globe and explicit pre-emptive strike doctrine enough to question what a "security" partnership with the U.S. means?!
Here are some protest pictures...

Hey Polly...my understanding of the origin of the idea of anti-SPP people being conspiracy theorists is related to the fact that in the U.S. most progressives have been ignoring the SPP completely and it is actually far-right nutjobs like the John Birch Society and all their ridiculous mumbo-jumbo about world government conspiracies and the Rockefellers conspiring with the Communists and yadda, yadda, yadda, that have been most upset about it. My sense is that the conspiracy theory accusation is an attempt to link legitimate concerns to that nonsense.
That said, I think there is a section of the movement in Canada that is a bit off in their fears...the SPP is a bad thing, no doubt, but I just don't buy that traditional state-based annexation is a likely endpoint. After all, why would they bother with that particular step, given that how the world works today makes it largely unnecessary and the fact that it would cause all manner of grumbling (to say the least) among ordinary Canadians who otherwise are content to ignore politics?

Oh, I fully agree with you on the whole annexation thing. The idea is to extract resources and labour, not to welcome new citizens!!!
